Can I get credits? 

That's possible. First thing to do is to contact your student administration (universities have different rules to obtain credits). If you know what is required, contact us. Our leading professor Marc Vanlangendonck is always prepared to find out what is possible in your case/curriculum.  Be aware that we gladly welcome your professor(s) to visit us. We're looking forward to meet them! 

Is it a highly structured Summer School?

Yes and no. With fieldwork, you’ll never know what’s coming up. But of course, there are some practical arrangements for most days (breakfast between 9 – 10 A.M., lunch between 1 – 2 P.M., 7 P.M start evening program (with sometimes a late dinner).

What are the payment conditions?

The payment of the program fee is to be done in two parts:

  • Upon acceptance of your registration 50% of the basis fee and 50% of optional extensions (Flanders tour before the program, Italy tour after the program)
  • By March 1st, 2022 the remaining 50% has to be paid.
  • Payment is due in € (preferred) or $ 
  • When you submit your application you receive the payment information 


If registration happens after March 1st, 2022, the total amount needs to be paid at once.

Failing to respect the due dates results in cancellation of the registration with a fixed cost (see Cancellation by the student conditions)

What is the cancellation policy?


Cancellation by the student

Cancellation of your registration is possible till March 1st.

A fixed cost of 15% will not be reimbursed.

Cancellation between March 1st and 31st: 50% cost

Cancellation after April 1st: 100% cost


Cancellation by BATSS vzw

BATSS vzw has the right to cancel the program without any redemnity

The paid fees will be reimbursed.

BATSS can cancel in two situations:

  • Minimum required number of 12 participants is not reached
  • In case of inevitable en extraordinary circumstances
