Meet the team behind

Marijke Dierick


Marijke strongly believes in the saying 'mens sano in corpore sano'. In addition to Masters in Educational Studies and Masters in Tourism, she also studied Classical Ballet Bachelor of Fine Arts. She worked at KU Leuven and Thomas More University college and currently combines her work as a pedagogue with running her own dance school. At least 10 weeks a year, Marijke goes out into the wide world to get to know new cultures, where she has a special predilection for the Caribbean with its interesting cultural diversity.

Johan Smeuninx


We have the sad task of informing you of Johan's passing.

Johan, we continue to extend borders and we know you're staying with us on the road less traveled.

Johan is managing director at Davidsfonds Cultuurreizen (cultural tourism, Belgium, www.cultuurreizen.be ) He studied commercial engineer at KU Leuven, work placement abroad in Krakow, and worked at CERA bank, Mastercard International and Thomas More University college, all jobs with a strong international focus. He is a strong believer in international mobility and cooperation. In his current position he emphasises intercultural encounters and the relation between heritage and tourism. Married, two children and adept of soccer, padel, scouting and Rotary.

Marc Vanlangendonck

Marc operates for decades worldwide in the field of applied anthropology with long term assignments (Egypt, France, Greece, Jamaica, Malta, Sri  Lanka, Surinam).  His work results in sensitive policy reports commissioned by governments, private companies and international organisations. Prof. at KU Leuven (Belgium). A true believer of intercultural communication and the interdisciplinary approach. Enjoys painting.

Christof Claes

Christof studied marketing and currently works as a managing director at his wife Marijke's dance schools. He does not shy away from any challenge, especially in the sporting field as a snowboarder. Christof wants to make his children citizens of the world and therefore takes them from an early age to all corners of the world, based on the belief that intercultural knowledge and dialogue ultimately lead to a world with more mutual understanding.
